Rakhidi and Her Music

Rakhidi [Rakhi Banerjee] is a versatile musician. Her music does not take time to touch the heart. The affect is almost immediate!  She says, “I sing because I love. I sing because they love. It is such a warm feeling to discover the music inside that is going on and on, I just require a little effort to express it. I feel blessed to be able to put in my humble efforts to give it some expressions…”

The Department of Culture, Government of India awarded her Senior Fellowship under the scheme ‘Fellowship to Outstanding Musicians’. Rakhidi taught at the Khairagarh University, the only university at that time in India devoted to the teaching and researches in music and visual arts, for a few years as a Visiting Faculty. She has two commercial releases to her credit.
